7:30 AM: Head on over to our Monday morning cafe for a cup of coffee. I stick to a regular coffee today. Rebelling against being overcharged for “iced coffee”. $2.50

9:00 AM: Carpool into the city. $1

10:00 AM: Yogurt at work. By the way, Peach Chobani is the best flavor…It’s also amazing in green smoothies $0

1:00 PM: I get to eat my stolen leftovers from free lunch last Friday! Mostly a lot of sauteed veggies. A LOT of green beans. $0

6:00 PM: Take the bus home. Notice the fares gone higher…how long has it been at this price? $4.50

7:00 PM: Dinner at home. $0

Commute: $5.50
Restaurants: $2.50

Total: $8

7:00 AM: Morning coffee to go with some morning blogging. $2.73

9:00 AM: Carpool into the city. $1

10:00 AM: More Peach Chobani for breakfast. $0

12:15 PM: We have this program at work called Lunch Roulette where you sign up and get assigned to go out for lunch with another person outside your department. This is my first one! We head over to a burger place. Guess the company paid for this? Good thing too because the burger I had was probably $20. $0

3:00 PM: Notice I was charged the annual fee for my second gym. AHHHH. My frugal fail of the year $39

6:00 PM: Take the Transbay Bus home. But seriously…this fare hike. It’s like 7%!!! That is way more than inflation… $4.50

7:00 PM: Take a Gig over to Whole Foods. Still riding on about $16 of free credit. Then what? I kind of dread the day we’ll have to compare Uber Pool vs. Gig, it’s just so convenient getting into a car and going. And driving is fun! $0

7:30 PM: My boyfriend needs more juicing goodies. And I need water crackers for my salami and cheese!! And I think I owe him money for last Saturdays groceries? $18

8:00 PM: Gig home. $0

8:30 PM: Dinner at home. $0

Commute: $5.50

11:45 AM: A rare lunch with my boyfriend at his favorite salad place. $10.69

2:00 PM: Charged for my climbing gym membership. $82

6:00 PM: Ate my leftover burger from yesterday. I’m joining my friend for a later pole class, so I’m going to be hungry. $0

7:45 PM: I still have 3 passes left for classes. It’s super fun but also I feel like the most uncoordinated person ever during anything that requires moving to a beat…This is why I’ve never been into dance or clubbing. $0

9:00 PM: Uber pool home. I’ve been taking screenshots of my fares. Uber has always refunded me even without, but it’s annoying I have to “catch” their fare mistake every time. They probably screw over so many people with the ride pass who don’t check how it comes through on their statement. $8.16

Restaurants: $13.42
Bills and Utilities: $82
Commute: $9.16

Total: $22.58

7:00 AM: Blogging at the coffee shop. $2.73

12:45 PM: Uber pool to the BART. $1.75

1:00 PM: BART into the city. $3.60

1:15 PM: This is kind of gross, but I still had some food leftover from last week. $0

9:00 PM: Carpool into the city. $1

10:00 AM: Yogurt for breakfast. $0

12:00 PM: One of my favorite lunches at work — Vietnamese vermicelli bowls. It’s a bowl of vermicelli with scallions, cilantro, greens, and pork/chicken on top. Then we flavor with soy sauce and fish sauce. $0

3:00 PM: Charge for Comcast. $61.11

5:00 PM: I decide to eat one of the leftover bowls as an early dinner. I just can’t get enough. $0

6:00 PM: We decide to BART into North Berkeley to go to REI. My boyfriend and I are going on a fly fishing trip with his family and I need to pick up some quick drying pants and long sleeve button downs. $3.60

6:30 PM: Uber pool to REI. $1.75

7:00 PM: I see this beautiful Arcteryx jacket that’s so soft. I want it! But resist somehow and leave with what I came for. So sad, I had a coupon for REI Co-op items that just expired yesterday. $123.34

7:30 PM: Walk over to Whole Foods across the street. My boyfriend needs more juicing greens. I get some coconut water and ice cream. Who’s healthier here? $6.28

8:00 AM: My boyfriend has been dragging me out of bed early to work at the coffee shop. Neither of us used to be morning people, but now he wakes at what feels like the crack of dawn on Saturday mornings. $2.73

11:00 AM: We end up grabbing brunch in the dining room of the cafe when we meet up with our friend for coffee since we’re all starving. Hilariously, we all get the measliest brunch which is 1 side of fried egg + 1 other side. Still it’s $$. $12

12:00 PM: Our friend drives us to the fly fishing store in Berkeley because my boyfriend special ordered some wading boots last weekend. $0

3:00 PM: We get dropped off at BART to go into the city. My friend is visiting from NY with her boyfriend who’s starting business school at Berkeley in the fall, and we’re all gathering for a courtyard bbq. $3.60

3:30 PM: Walk over to a nearby grocery store for our contribution. I grab 2 local ciders, 1 brownie for myself, and onions and tomatoes. $40.35

4:00 PM: Head on over to the BBQ! The unfortunate thing about trying to have a BBQ in SF is that the weather is so erratic and it turns very foggy and cold. $0

1:00 PM: Uber pool over to the climbing gym in Berkeley. $1.75

3:00 PM: For the first time, we try the sauna at the gym. It is so dang hot, I can’t even sit in there for more than 5 minutes. $0

3:30 PM: Uber pool over to our Berkeley coffee shop. $1.75

3:45 PM: I’m feeling a tickle in my throat so I get a chamomile tea and dump some honey in. $3

5:00 PM: Uber pool home. Game of Thrones was so good last night that we need to watch it in HD tonight. $1.75

7:00 PM: Dinner and Game of Thrones at home. $0

Commute: $5.25
Restaurants: $10.11

Total: $15.36

  1. Game of Thrones is on HBO right? Need to pay for cable right? Or is there something I’m missing. We don’t have cable, but have always wanted to watch Game of Thrones. I feel like the wife and I aren’t keeping up with the times 😛

    1. Like Luxe, we used a friend’s HBO Go account when we started watching. It’s easier if you’ve kept up with the series too since a lot of friends host watch parties if you don’t have HBO Go or pay for HBO! But our Comcast internet came with HBO Go, and now I’m worried that we somehow signed up for cable and just didn’t realize. We never had the cable set up if that’s the case, but I really hope not…

  2. Saunas are no joke. Five minutes is how much I stay in there too.
I’m with Tim, I don’t watch GoT but curious to see an episode to see what the hype is all about. My series was the Wire when I had cable and that’s my favorite TV series ever.

    1. It’s a great series! I think I know a couple of people who don’t understand the hype, but I personally think it’s one of the best series just in terms of great storyline, writers, and character development. I’m also a huge sucker for “fantasy”/medieval settings. I believe you can try out Amazon Prime Video w/ HBO for free and they have Game of Thrones through there!

    1. I’m addicted to the vermicelli bowls! I’ll have to snap a pic the next time we have them! It’s pretty much just everything jumbled and mixed together separately. So good!

Hah, I was “borrowing” from my college ex-boyfriend up until 5 months ago. Shame. Shame. Shame.
